Who Is This Course For?

This course is suitable for people who need general construction induction training before carrying out construction work, including:

• • new entrants to the construction industry
  • construction workers and labourers
  • contractors and subcontractors
  • apprentices and trainees
  • workers who require construction induction training before entering a construction site

What You’ll Learn

During the course, you’ll learn how to:

• • understand basic work health and safety requirements for construction work
  • identify common construction hazards and basic risk controls
  • identify and correctly use common personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • understand safety signs, documentation and reporting requirements
  • report hazards, incidents and injuries
  • respond to workplace incidents and emergencies

Delivery mode:
Face-to-face training incorporating classroom learning, practical activities and assessment.

Location:
Available statewide in Tasmania.

Employer and group training may also be available at suitable workplaces.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal prerequisite units for CPCWHS1001.

Participants will need to be able to understand basic workplace safety instructions, communicate safety information and complete simple written activities as part of the training and assessment.

Certification / Outcome

Participants who successfully complete the course will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for CPCWHS1001 – Prepare to work safely in the construction industry.

In Tasmania, successful completion of the training does not automatically issue the White Card. Participants must apply for their construction induction card through Service Tasmania using their Statement of Attainment and required identification.

Important Information

Programmed Skilled Workforce does not issue the physical White Card. In Tasmania, White Cards are issued by WorkSafe Tasmania.

After completing your training, you will need to apply for your White Card by following these steps:

1. 1. Complete the Construction Induction Card Application Form, but do not sign it yet.
   2. Visit a Service Tasmania outlet within 60 days of completing your training.
   3. Bring your Statement of Attainment showing that you have successfully completed the required Unit of Competency.
   4. Bring the required identity documents listed in the application form.
   5. Pay the applicable White Card application fee.

You will sign your application as part of the application process at Service Tasmania.

Important: Under WorkSafe Tasmania requirements, a Tasmanian White Card can only be issued where the learner was a resident of Tasmania when they completed the training.
